What we collect, why we collect it, and how you're in control.

This Privacy Policy explains how Parel LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use ParelVR — our client software, websites (parelvr.parelllc.com and its subdomains), APIs, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If anything is unclear, reach out through the contact details in Section 11.
1. Overview
ParelVR is a 16+ social VR platform. We confirm every player’s age with free ID and face verification that runs on our own servers. It’s built on the open-source Idswyft tool, and our version is open source too, so you can see exactly how your ID is handled. Your account within ParelVR is managed entirely by our own backend systems, and this policy covers the information that flows through our servers as part of running the Service.
2. Information We Collect

We collect this information when you register, use the client, publish content, make a purchase, or contact us for support.
3. How We Use Information
- To create and secure your account, and to authenticate you across our websites and the client.
- To operate core platform features — matching you into worlds, showing your favorites and recents, and displaying your published content to other players.
- To detect and prevent cheating, abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To run the Copyright tool: checking whether uploaded content matches other uploads, holding uploads that copy protected content, and letting staff review protections.
- To show and promote published worlds and avatars (their names, pictures and recordings) on our websites, store pages, social media and advertising, as described in our Terms of Service.
- To email you about actions taken on your content, such as a world being suspended or taken down, or a copyright protection being removed, with the reason.
- To respond to support tickets, bug reports, player reports, and ban appeals.
- To maintain and improve the Service, including diagnosing crashes and performance issues.
- To communicate important updates about the Service, when necessary.
We don't sell your personal information.
4. Third-Party Services
Running ParelVR means working with a small number of trusted service providers, each of whom processes data on our behalf:
- Steam (Valve) — purchases made in the game on PC.
- Meta — purchases made in the game on Meta Quest.
- Stripe — payments on our website, including ParelVR+. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.
- Discord — our community server, which has its own privacy practices governed by Discord's policies.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on its platform. We only share what's necessary for each service to function.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and content data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. If you request account deletion (see Section 7), we'll remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we need to retain limited records for security, fraud-prevention, or legal reasons.
Content fingerprints are kept while the content exists. Records of copyright protections that staff removed are kept as moderation history.
ID and selfie photos from age verification are deleted from our servers as soon as your verification finishes, whether it passes or fails. Voice audio is never saved: it’s only processed in memory during the check. Verification files are encrypted while they’re stored.
7. Your Rights & Choices
- Update your display name at any time from your Dashboard, up to 3 times every 3 months.
- Change your password from Account Settings.
- Control content visibility — mark worlds and avatars private, limited, or public at any time.
- Request account deletion by submitting a Support ticket; our team will process the request and remove your account and associated personal data.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information under local law. Contact us using the details in Section 11 to make a request.
8. Children's Privacy
ParelVR is a 16+ experience and is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we learn that we've collected information from someone under this age, we'll take steps to delete it.
9. Data Security
We rely on our own infrastructure for credential storage and account security, and the PCI DSS compliant systems of Stripe, Steam and Meta for payments. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as ParelVR evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where practical, let the community know through our Discord.
